The Ale Knight Gazette 2018 Year End Review
2018 was an incredible year for the region's underground rock and roll scene. The first thing that should be mentioned is the slew of vinyl releases that came out of Moncton. Not all of them fall into the rock and roll category, but we feel they should be included in this list nonetheless. Shall we enumerate? Yes, we shall:

An incredible amount of international touring acts paid us a visit. It was a thrill to see legends, unknowns and new upstarts kick out the jams in this little city. I personally got to see the following acts perform in basements, theaters, hockey arenas, night clubs and bars: Massacre 68 (Mexico), Fatum (Russia), Radiation Risks (Buffalo USA), Muro (Colombia), Stiff Little Fingers (Northern Ireland), Oi Polloi (Scotland), Albert Frost (South Africa), Apara (Mexico), Joe Jackson (UK) and Jack White (Michigan USA)

A few new bands made their debut (Klackers, Grosse Bouche, Whoregasms), a few played their final shows (Slow Fight, Bit Lip, Disasterbaters, Small Package, City Bus Hand Jobs) and sadly, we lost Claude's House, the most important all-ages D.I.Y. venue we've ever had. Many thanks to Scout, Sonny, Alf, Josué, Todi, Colton, Dan, Marc and whoever else made this little gem of a place possible. It will be missed more than words can accurately express. We expect that the annual NoFunswick Fest will be negatively affected. Fingers crossed that it isn't.
The Virals and The Nuclear have started gigging again while Nerve Button have had a lot of down time due to cancer treatments and multiple surgeries (result of a near fatal motorcycle accident).
And finally, 2019 should see new records by the Phone Jerks, Zaum and Chiller as well as a new full length local punk compilation. Stay tuned...
